Friday, 8 Feb 2019, 7pm doors open (for 7.30pm start)
Straits Clan Attic, 31 Bukit Pasoh
Can large incumbents, including governments, build and implement effective technology solutions, or are they forever at the behest of smaller and more nimbler startups?
Join us as we discuss these topics and more with Liu Feng-Yuan and Wong Hefen, who were both recently named as 2 of the world’s 100 most influential young people in government by public service think tank Apolitical in 2018.
In this live session of Feed, we discuss how AI and data analytics are implemented in practice, the challenges of driving change within large organisations and learn more about their leadership journeys and building effective teams. We will also go behind the scenes on some high-profile data stories including MOM’s behavioural insights unit Co-Lab, catching the rogue MRT train, and the app that has changed the lives of drivers all around the island, Parking.SG.
Feng-Yuan is the co-founder of Basis.ai, a AI technology startup which recently raised $6M from Sequoia India and Temasek in one of the largest seed rounds in Singapore. Previously, as Director of the Data Science Division in GovTech’s Government Digital Services team, he built a team of multi-disciplinary data scientists to drive the use of data-driven decision-making in public policy formulation and service delivery, and led key projects for the Singapore government’s Smart Nation initiative. He graduated from Oxford University on a President’s Scholarship.
Wong Hefen co-founded Co.Lab, in the Ministry of Manpower, where as Deputy Director, she leads a team utilizing behavioural insights, data and design to humanize public service solutions and develop data-driven policies. Hefen was based in New York and London in 2016 as a Research Fellow with the Public Policy Lab, Parsons DESIS Lab and the UK Behavioural Insights Team. She believes in creating safe workplaces where teams thrive.
